About the Wheel

A 50m state-of-the-art observation wheel on the Eastbourne seafront, standing over 160ft tall and offering the most panoramic views of the town and the stunning coastline.

A state-of-the-art observation wheel

Eastbourne will once again be home to a state-of-the-art observation wheel this Spring/Summer season, and we're delighted to present the UK's largest transportable Ferris wheel.

Standing over a huge 160ft tall, the wheel takes you up and around in a series of sweeping, panoramic capsules, giving 360° bird-eye views of the beautiful East Sussex coastline.

The wheel was brand new for the 2022 season, bigger than ever before, and returned for the 2023 season. It is set up on Western Lawns next to Bistro Pierre, near King Edwards Parade, and is open 7 days a week.

Perched on the Eastbourne seafront, the Giant Wheel is a striking 50m observation wheel that has become one of the most recognisable features of the town's promenade. Rising over 160ft above the shoreline, it is billed as the largest transportable Ferris wheel in the UK, and it returns each spring and summer season to spread across King Edwards Parade. The structure's bold silhouette against the Sussex sky gives the seafront a distinctive focal point, drawing visitors out from the pier, the lawns and the busy town centre towards a single, unmissable landmark.

Riding one of the sweeping capsules takes you slowly up and around in a full rotation, with glass panels offering a 360° bird-eye perspective over Eastbourne and the surrounding coastline. From the uppermost point, the view stretches in every direction: the curving beach and pier to one side, the rooftops and streets of the town to the other, and out across the wide blue of the English Channel beyond. It is a gentle, seated experience rather than a thrill ride, making it equally appealing to families, couples and groups of visitors who want a moment of calm above the crowds.

Because the wheel is transportable, it arrives and departs with the seasons, appearing fresh on the seafront each year and settling into the landscape as a temporary but much-loved addition. Operators, staff and entertainers work alongside the attraction, and nearby bistro seating gives guests a place to sit back with a drink and take in the atmosphere. The surrounding promenade offers plenty to do beyond the ride itself, so a visit naturally turns into an afternoon or evening out along the western lawns and the bright, buzzing heart of the Eastbourne seafront.

Tickets for the Giant Wheel are available in a range of options, from standard adult admissions to concessions for junior riders and children, with advance online booking generally helping visitors save money and avoid queues at peak times. A saver or family-style ticket bundles multiple rides into one purchase, which works well for groups travelling together. The wheel opens seven days a week during its operating season, with published times and a clear online price list making planning straightforward. For questions about opening hours, accessibility or admission details, the site's dedicated pages and frequently asked questions provide most of the answers you will need.
